About
Blue Future Conference 2024
Plymouth is a rapidly emerging leader in New England’s blue economy. Join us October 21 and 22 for Blue Future 2024: Plymouth at-the-helm where we will showcase Plymouth’s leadership, talent, resources, and innovation in the blue sectors. Regional entrepreneurs, non-profit leaders, and government officials will present their hard work and exciting results!
Blue Future 2024 will spotlight initiatives and momentum in aquaculture, robotics, AI and marine tech R&D. Our keynote speaker on October 21 is Secretary of Economic Development, Yvonne Hao! Join us to learn about the state’s new economic development plan and how the Commonwealth is backing it with funding from the Governor’s economic development bond bill. On October 22, Undersecretary for the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development, Josh Cutler, will explain how the state is preparing the workforce for high-paying, high-skill jobs in the blue economy and supporting the entrepreneurs who will create these opportunities!
Our breakout sessions and panel discussions will cover the latest developments in Marine Tech, Aquaculture and Fisheries, Climate Resilience, and a public policy roundtable with Plymouth’s legislative delegation and policy experts.
Naturally, our resident sea-serpent, Thoreau, will be there – and so will a VERY SPECIAL GUEST who is exceptionally knowledgeable about sea monsters! Glen Gawarkiewicz, associate scientist at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, will headline our Networking event on 10/21 at 4:30pm with a presentation on Sea Monsters from Classical Times to the Age of Exploration. These horrific little beauties are all over ye ol’ maps and Glen is going to tell you why.
